Montenegro Reduces Batangas–Puerto Galera Ferry Fares Following LGU Appeal

Good news for residents, workers, students and tourists: Montenegro Shipping Lines will introduce lower fares on the Batangas City–Puerto Galera route beginning July 13, 2026.

According to an advisory from the Puerto Galera local government, Montenegro Shipping Lines responded to the municipality’s appeal to make ferry travel more affordable. The call was led by Puerto Galera Mayor Robinhood D. Ylagan.

The reduction is particularly important for Puerto Galera residents who regularly travel to Batangas for work, education, medical appointments, business and family matters. Lower transport costs could also support the local tourism industry by making Puerto Galera more affordable and accessible to visitors from Luzon.

New RoRo fares
Regular passenger: ₱460
Student with valid ID: ₱368
Senior citizen or PWD with valid ID: ₱329
Child aged 3–7: ₱230
Private car: ₱3,400
Motorcycle: ₱1,360
New fastcraft fares
Regular passenger: ₱663
Student with valid ID: ₱530
Senior citizen or PWD with valid ID: ₱474
Child aged 3–7: ₱332

The new rates apply to journeys between Batangas City and Puerto Galera in both directions from July 13.

Passengers claiming discounted fares must present a valid student, senior citizen or PWD identification card. Proof of age may also be requested for children.

Additional terminal, environmental or other authorised port charges may be collected separately from the basic ferry fare.

Travellers should continue to verify departure times before going to the port, particularly during the Habagat and typhoon season, when schedules may change because of weather, sea conditions or Coast Guard restrictions.

The fare matrix was provided by Montenegro Shipping Lines.

Tayo Dito PG welcomes the reduction. For an island community, ferry fares are not merely a tourism issue—they affect the everyday cost of working, studying, receiving medical care and staying connected with the mainland.
