Price freeze on basic goods remains active in Puerto Galera until August 14
A 60-day price freeze on basic necessities remains in force in Puerto Galera after the town's state of calamity declaration over the water shortage.
Puerto Galera's 60-day price freeze on basic necessities remains active through August 14, 2026, unless lifted earlier by national authorities.
The Philippine Information Agency reported that the measure took effect after the Sangguniang Bayan placed the municipality under a state of calamity because of the water shortage. Under the Price Act, prices of basic necessities are automatically frozen at their prevailing levels once a state of calamity is declared, subject to the legal time limit.
DTI Oriental Mindoro reminded businesses and retailers to comply. According to PIA, violations may carry imprisonment, fines or administrative penalties.
For residents, the key point is simple: keep receipts, compare prices carefully and report suspicious price increases to the proper local or DTI channels. This item is an active public-service draft even though the original government article was published on June 25.
